A short recap of the 2024 ASIAL Security Conference & Exhibition at ICC Sydney : and the moment a visiting technician walked off with the title of Fastest Tech in Sydney.
The expo
We had a fantastic time at the 2024 ASIAL Security Conference & Exhibition at ICC Sydney. Three days, the entire NSW security industry under one roof, and a lot of conversations about where integrated commercial security is heading over the next five years.
For us, the standout themes from the floor were the maturing of cloud-managed access control for commercial sites, the noticeable jump in AI analytics actually delivering on the marketing pitch (rather than mostly producing false-positive alerts), and a long-overdue convergence of monitoring platforms with the same operator console.
The Fastest Tech in Sydney challenge
A big highlight was our “Fastest Tech in Sydney” challenge at the Ktronics stand. Visiting technicians and aspiring apprentices took turns running a timed practical task. The winning technician completed it in an impressive 2 minutes and 10 seconds.
A pretty solid number to beat at SecTech 2026 next May, if any Australian techs reading this are up for the challenge.
